a little something extra for you!

This semester is nearly done, but Tulane's got Lagniappe, Loyola's got Spring II, Xavier's got a Spring II, and everyone's at least got summer school. So, we're still rolling, but with a little different look and feel.

Beginning Tuesday the 16th of May, the Gathering goes weekly at Loyola's Ignatius Chapel (Bobet Hall). We'll probably meet at 7pm, but that's up for debate...
Here's the real kicker: this is more than the Gathering, this is Lagniappe Gathering: a little something extra. Think the Gathering meets weekly prayer gathering meets Satellite.

Get ready, it's going to be amazing!

Be on the lookout for more info soon, including Perspectives--it will blow your mind!

Lent to Easter Message

Lent, like this semester is nearly over. I know that many of you participated in this remembrance of the Church calendar: a preparation for Good Friday, and Easter. I hope that you have found this 'giving up' to be rewarding in discipline, and maybe much more. Jesus said that anyone who would seek to save or keep his or her life would lose it, but the one who would lose or give up his or her life for Him would find it, and never lose it.
It's a bit of a paradox: gaining by losing, getting by giving. It's the way of Christ. He sacrificed his life in order to gain salvation for the world: the people the Father loves so desparetly. We gained more than can be imagined, and he gained us. The crazy thing about the deal, is that Jesus was willing to go to the cross because of the joy set before him. That joy had two components: reunion with the Father, and the reward of you and I reunited with the Father.
I think that should wake us up to how great relationship, union with God is: Christ was willing to experience the shame and pain of rejection by his followers, separation from the Father, and torturous death to gain complete reunion with the Father. That's an example we can all look up to. Plus, he thought so much of this joyous union with God, that he came to earth in the first place for the sake of making a way for you and I to join into this union!
So this Easter season, be sure to spend some time reflecting on what it's all about. It's not just a break to recover, or catch up on your studies. It is a time to remember Christ's sacrifice, remember the impossible: his resurrection, and rejoice in the hope that he has gained for us: union with the Father.
If you would like to read more about this, I recommend looking into the New Testament at Romans 5, Colossians 1, Hebrews 12, Luke 22-24
Happy Easter!
