Chi Alpha New Orleans is made up of student organizations from specific New Orleans universities. However, there are also some full-time people who work to develop and advance the communities individually, and as a whole. These staff members are sometimes called pastors, or missionaries, but really try to just be servants.

Chi Alpha New Orleans Directors: Matt and Jen DeGier

Matt and Jen came to New Orleans to get Chi Alpha started in the summer of 2003, after completing a Chi Alpha internship at UL-Lafayette. They are both from the MidWest, originally, and met at North Central University in Minneapolis.

Jen enjoys real camping (RVing is NOT camping), shopping for shoes (trying to quit), sewing, reading on the beach, playing cards, beating people at Castle RISK, garage saling, fostering kittens, and playing in the dirt (gardening).

Matt enjoys studying and talking about theology, philosophy, sociology, justice, and more nerdy stuff, running long distances, reading, smelling and collecting books, preparing, consuming and talking about coffee, soccer, playing in mountains and beautiful weather.

Loyola Chi Alpha Directors: Josh and Rachel Harvey

Josh and Rachel direct the Loyola chapter, as well as contributing to the city-wide Chi Alpha community. They are both from the Houston area and met at LSU. They completed the Diversity Project CMiT program in May 2009, and joined the New Orle
ans team that summer.

Rachel enjoys lounging with her dog in the Lazy Boy, anything on Bravo TV, Audubon Zoo, making up nicknames for people, and anything camping.

Josh enjoys playing instruments, talking about or teaching music theory, any amateur sport, training for his first triathalon, and coffee.

UNO Chi Alpha Associate: Christine Thrower

Christine is our incoming associate staff member/missionary for the University of New Orleans. She is from Clovis, NM, but graduated from LSU where she became a student leader in Chi Alpha. She completes the Diversity Project CMiT program in May 2010, and will joined the New Orleans team this summer.

Christine enjoys hiking, camping, horseback riding, anything adventurous in the outdoors, writing, singing, being creative, asking questions that make people think, relaxing in hammocks, roadtrips, hearing lyrics of a song that seem to reflect something in me i didnt know existed, finding ways to say 'i love you' without words.
