Finals lead to Summer

Looking for a place to quiet down during finals: a place to pray and/or meditate?
Tulane's Religious Life Staff have coordinated open time in Rogers Memorial Chapel for silent reflection, prayer, and meditation at the following times:

Saturday, May 3, 1 PM to 5:00 PM  (Roman Catholic Host)
Sunday, May 4, 1 PM to 4:00 PM (Roman Catholic Host)
Monday, May 5, 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM (Lutheran host)
Tuesday, May 6, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM (Lutheran Host)
Wednesday, May 7, 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM (Chi Alpha Host)

Also, as the Spring Semester wraps up, we look forward to a summer of continued relationship and growth. For those who will be in the area, we're planning to have weekly city-wide gatherings on Wednesday nights @ 8pm. These gatherings will be focused around prayer, but also consist of fun and sharing. Location is TBD.

A Call to Prayer

It's been a dangerous month for college students.

As we remember the students murdered by suicidal gunners in Baton Rouge, and Illinois, I hope it will call the Christian community of university students in New Orleans to prayer. We are not immune from the dangers realized at Northern Illinois, and Louisiana Technical College. The same fears, insecurities, hatreds, and imbalances are present among us. It is our responsibility to be the hands and feet of Jesus (the Body of Christ) reaching out with love, care, and healing in this broken world, and that starts with prayer - praying to a God who hears and responds to our prayers.

This weekend, a few Christian communities at Tulane and Loyola are sponsoring 48 straight hours of prayer, and I invite you to join us.

Forty8 kicks off this Friday at 7pm. Instead of Chi Alpha's usual Friday 8pm prayer, we will host everyone interested for a prayer and worship time at Rogers Chapel at 7pm to get the 48 hours started. I hope you can join us.

The other 47 hours will be hosted at the BCM building on Freret St. Students and friends are signing up for one hour blocks, and we hope to have at least one person praying at all times: praying for our campuses, our city, and our world.

Please join us. You won't regret it.

Tuesday, October 09, 2007

It's been an exciting few days for Chi Alpha New Orleans, and that's going to continue.

Following up on Monday's Gathering, we will combine Tulane and Loyola group prayer next Monday (other campuses welcome). We will pray at 9pm at Loyola in the Seminar room of Carrollton Hall. Monday the 15th of October.

Then, next Saturday we get into ACTION! We will be teaming up with CACTUS to do a Paint Rally at a local school: cleaning up, painting, fixing up... 9am - 3 or 3:30 pm on Satuday the 20th of October. To sign up email action@nolaxa.com or call 504.655.9273

Finally, campus ministries from Tulane and Loyola are teaming up to sponsor forty8 - 48 hours of prayer starting with a bang Friday the 2nd of November at 7pm and continuing through 7pm on Sunday the 4th. The BCM on Freret St. will be open for 1 hour prayer slots during that time. Sign-up for slots, and other details will be online at www.forty8.org (currently under construction)
